Attendance Update2 December 2024 (by admin) |
Well done to 1G who had 100% attendance last week.
Last week (week beginning Monday 25th November) class 1G had superb attendance with every pupil, in every day, on time and ready for learning.
Achieving 100% attendance is a very difficult achievement so well done to all children in Mrs Griffin's class.
4A remain our attendance champions so far this half term however, and it looks likely that they will repeat their achievement of having the best attendance this half term after also being champions in the first autumn half term.
Unfortunately apart from 1G attendance across the school was very low at 93.46% well below our 96% target.
We will send all parents / carers an attendance report for their child this term in the week beginning 16th December.
It is so important that all pupils attend school everyday where possible unless they are ill and require time at home to recover.
Only by being in school will pupils achieve the very best they can.
There is strong evidence to show that good pupil attendance leads to good pupil achievement.
Evidence shows that the pupils with the highest attainment at the end of Key Stage 2 (Year 6) have higher rates of attendance over the key stage compared to those with the lowest attainment.
At the end of Year 6, pupils not meeting the expected standard in reading, writing and maths had an overall absence rate of 4.7%, compared to 3.5% among those achieving the expected standard. (Department for Education - Working Together to Improve Attendance published May 2022).
We do recognise that there are legitimate health reasons why some children miss school
Our first instinct will always be to work with parents and carers to support you in ensuring good attendance for your child whatever the circumstances you face.
If you are concerned about your child's attendance and require support please contact the school.
Please also remember that we will always send children who are unwell home - if you are in doubt, send your child in and we we will keep an eye on them and contact you if we feel they are not fit to be in school.
Finally as we approach the end of term it is worth pointing out that the final few days before a school holiday are not ‘a good time’ for your child to stay off school.
Teachers throughout he school will continue to teach the normal curriculum (and if your child misses these they will fall behind).
