Pupil Attendance Information - December 2024

12 December 2024 (by admin)

Details of attendance information being sent home with pupils tomorrow (13/12/24).

Tomorrow all pupils in KS1 and KS2 (Years 1 to 6) will receive a copy of their attendance information for this term (up until 12/12/24) to take home to parents / carers.

This will give parents / carers information about their child’s attendance since the start of the school year (September 2024) – remember that if they have had illness and poor attendance this term then their overall attendance figure this can be improved over the rest of the school year.

There will be a letter sent home with the attendance information sheet providing details of the influence individual days’ absence can have on a child’s overall attendance and their learning time in school.

It is so important that children are in school every day where possible in order to make the most of their education.

The government in August 2024 published the responsibilities parents / carers have as regards attendance in school.

These are:

  • Ensure their child attends every day the school is open except when a statutory reason applies.

  • Notify the school as soon as possible when their child has to be unexpectedly absent (e.g. sickness).

  • Only request leave of absence in exceptional circumstances and do so in advance.

  • Book any medical appointments around the school day where possible.

We will always work with parents / carers to improve attendance and would urge you to contact us if you require any help with improving your child’s attendance.
